Birch Bay Assisted living program is classified as a Residential Care Level 4 facility. To achieve Level 4 Status, the State of Maine requires that a nurse consult for 8 hrs/month.
Birch Bay Village exceeds that standard by a wide margin:
Our full-time Director of Health care is an RN with over 20
years experience. She is onsite 5 days per week.
Our daytime Charge Nurse brings over 30 years of experience
to our residents. She is onsite 5 days per week.
Licensed nurses provide 24 hour, 7 days per week, 365 days
per year on-call support.
This experienced staff is supplemented by numerous CNAs (certified nurses aides), and CRMAs (certified residential medication aides) on staff for Birch Bay Village.
The social nature of Birch Bay is part of our care model.
Our own Health Services and Activities staff have developed an innovative Social Model that makes Assisted Living a uniquely friendly place to live. The activities staff keeps a close working relationship with the health services department to provide an ongoing continuum of social opportunities for our residents.
Pleasant Cove and Safe Harbor residents enjoy the special attention given by the nursing staff that extends beyond their stellar medical care and encompasses relationship building through meaningful and thoughtful interactions. A walk in the Memory Garden and sharing a “life stories” book are some of our favorite examples of our more personalized service.
Care Options at Birch Bay Village
Inn and Cottage residents can enroll in the Mount Desert Island Hospital's Care Management Program, which provides assistance with identifying health issues and corresponding resources within our Island community.
Although our partnership with Mount Desert Island Hospital provides access to an excellent medical staff, Birch Bay Village residents may keep their current provider. Physicians are always welcome on site.
